7 Days of Exploration

We suggest an itinerary visiting 2 or 3 islands in the Nosy Be archipelago. You chose the style of accommodation and we sort out the flights, transfers and activities such as diving, deep sea fishing, motorbike or car hire, island tour etc.

Day 1

Fly JNB 09.30 arrive nosy be 14.45 Meet at airport and transferred to Manga Be lodge. Over sundowners, the guide will discuss trip and itinerary for the week. Dinner will be for your account this first night

Day 2

After breakfast paddle east along the coast of Nosy Be to a rustic tented camp on the edge of Lokobe nature reserve. The distance is about 19km. We will stop for rests along the way. Afternoon walk in the forest to see wildlife, fauna and flora.

Day 3

After breakfast paddle a short distance 2.5km, to the nearby Verona Private Island. This tiny island hosts the only working lighthouse. From here you are transferred by pirogue to Tanikely Marine Reserve to spend the day relaxing on the beach and snorkelling. stunning panoramic view of the area. After a picnic lunch on the beach we head back to the island to enjoy the rest of the afternoon and sundowners on the veranda.

Day 4

After breakfast paddle across to the Hermitage Beach Hotel , a distance of about 13 km. Set on grassy lawns this colonial era resort is positioned on a lovely isolated beach on Mainland Madagascar.

Day 5

After breakfast you paddle to the south side of Komba Island where we land on a beach for a rest and refreshments. Arrive at Berenice Bungalows. The total distance is 15km. This bungalow resort is set on a little private beach in amongst wonderful gardens. It is owned and run by a Malagasy lady who together with her late Italian husband built the resort many years ago.

Day 6

Kayak 5 km across the channel to Ankify Lodge- set just above the waters edge. An old colonial house has being converted in to a bar restaurant and the bungalows have being built along the ledge. As soon as you are settled in a mini bus will be waiting to take you to Millot Plantation. You will visit the ylang ylang plantations and Ambanja town. A sundowner on the terrace of the old main building followed by a tasty dinner is a perfect way to end a lovely day.

Day 7

After breakfast, paddle across the channel and head back to Nosy Komba. Plenty of beach bars to choose from for lunch. Can have a village walk to see the lemurs in the wild. They come down from the trees and jump on you. Dinner at the lodge

Day 8

After breakfast, head to airport. Shops in town are all closed as its Sunday but you can have a quick visit to the local market to get spices, vanilla, rum, jam, honey etc. Flight back to JNB at 14.45 – 19h15

  • Transfers from and to the airport are included.
  • If you are going on to other hotels, we can arrange transfers but will be for your account.
  • Visas are done on arrival and are approximately R500 per person.
  • If you’d like to extend your stay we can suggest and arrange accommodation for you.
