8 day Madagascar dhow safari holiday from R9 615
Join an 8 day adventure dhow safari in the Nosy be archipelago of North Western Madagascar for R9 615 (excluding airport taxes of approx R1 800) where you will stay in private camps on the islands.
Here is the low down on the dhow safaris:
• The trip takes 8 to 10 people per trip
• When you arrive in Nosy Be the team will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel for the night. Transfers are included in the trip cost.
• The following morning you set sail on the dhow (Salama Djema or Salama Tsara ) for the next 6 nights of island hopping and staying on the island.
An rough itinerary :
• Night 1: Nosy Be Hotel
You will stay in a basic but clean hotel in Helville. You'll arrive late in the evening and head to the dhow early the next morning. There is option of upgrading your hotel.
• Night 2 & 3: Russian Bay (Bungalows)
After about 4 hours of motor sailing you will stop for lunch and snorkelling in the Ankazbiravina Marine Reserve. From there you'll head off to our own private camp in Russian Bay. The next day we'll take you fishing and lunch will be served on Ansoha Island. Later on the dhow returns to Russian Bay where kayaks are available. The rest of the day is at your leisure.
• Night 4 & 5: Mahalinia Camp (Bungalows)
Spend your days fishing, snorkelling and relaxing.
• Nights 6 & 7: Lokobie (Permanent tented camp)
On the way to Lokobie, we stop at Tanihely Marine Reserve to enjoy hours of snorkelling and a long lunch. Our camp is based on the edge of the forest reserve, where you will see lemurs in the wild. We'll visit Nosy Komba, stroll through the village and get up close and personal with habituated lemurs.
We leave early on the last morning to link uo with the flight back to South Africa.
This trip gives you plenty of time for snorkelling, fishing, seeing lemurs, visiting local markets, relaxing, not too much dhow time and can be fitted into a week long holiday.
